Start with the people in the room
A community session works best when the pace fits the group. Some participants will want a friendly match straight away. Others may prefer a demonstration, a few practice shots and encouragement from someone they know.
Boccia gives a group a shared focus without requiring the session to revolve around speed. Seated play, clear demonstrations and small group activities can be considered during planning. The delivery team still needs to assess the actual support and access arrangements for your participants.
For senior groups, agencies and volunteers
We welcome enquiries from active ageing centres, social service agencies, community organisers and volunteer groups across Singapore. Our past clients include Lions Befrienders.
If you are bringing volunteers and seniors together, discuss the volunteers’ role in advance. Helpful support might include welcoming participants, explaining the activity again or keeping the playing area clear. Players should remain involved in choosing their own shots.
Details that make a difference
- Arrival and access: think about drop-off, lifts, doorways and routes to the playing area.
- Seating: leave room for comfortable positioning and movement around the group.
- Communication: tell us about language preferences and whether instructions need to be demonstrated more slowly.
- Support: discuss caregiver involvement, rest opportunities and any requested assistive equipment.
A shared activity, not a medical programme
Our enquiry pathway is for recreational boccia and group engagement. We do not present the session as treatment or rehabilitation. If participation needs specialist clinical advice, arrange that with the participant’s usual care team and discuss suitable session adjustments separately.
Make it a one-off gathering or explore a series
A first session can focus on familiarity and enjoyment. A continuing programme can revisit the basics and let participants become more comfortable with the game. The frequency, duration and staffing depend on your group and should be agreed during planning.
Send your organisation name, group size, age range, preferred location and dates. Please describe access requirements generally in the form, without including identifiable health information.
